"About two years ago, I arrived in Houston and parked outside St. Constantine's School. I was a little tired, having driven that far, and needed to chat with a good friend. I called our good family friend, Fr. Mark, from MO. His sister lives in Houston, so when I left Lincoln, NE, where he was serving at that time, he had asked me to call him when I'd get to the school.
As we talked, Father Mark was the first to call our "Paterikon for Kids" series "The Encyclopedia of the Saints." While at that Conference in Houston, he asked me, and everywhere else, I'm called to show our books and suggest that everyone consider buying only a few of the books to get the entire series.
He said that, in the same way, parents back in time would never buy A, B, or C of an Encyclopedia, but not D, or E, and so on, for their kids, they would buy the entire encyclopedia. In the same way, one should get more than just a few books in this series; one should get the whole series.
So, since January 2018, I've been calling the "Paterikon for Kids" - "The Encyclopedia of the Saints."
Isn't it a good term for such a spiritually uplifting series?
"Paterikon for Kids" published its first twelve books on December 2, 2010, Ekaterine's birthday and our beloved St. Porphyrios' day. On a side note, have I told you how happy my mom was every time she reminded me of how she would take me to St. Porphyrios to get his blessing every time she took me to the church at the Polyclinic of Athens?
Glory to God for our living Saints!
