Saint Sebastian of Jackson denied himself all worldly treasures and possessions to help those needing spiritual guidance. St. Nikolai Velimirovich used to say that St. Sebastian had crossed the Atlantic fifteen times and the Pacific nine. Like a true Apostle, he tirelessly spread the Word of God to people of different ethnic backgrounds, such as American, Russian, Greek, Syrian, Bulgarian, Japanese, and Serbian. One of those Serbian parishes was St. Nicholas Church in Hamilton, the first in Eastern Canada. His name was added to the Saints of the Holy Orthodox Church at the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church on May 29, 2015.
We commemorate him on November 30.
