I was printing out Lenten resources from all over the place (namely Orthodox Pebbles), and trying to piece together a method and organization--and this helps immensely. It has things in it I didn't even think about introducing (and didn't know), like the history of Lady Lent, the Pre-Sanctified Liturgy, or other details--like why a Yiayia in my church baked bird-shaped buns at the beginning of Lent.

I am very grateful for having it. My girls really liked flipping through it. I am looking forward to its continued use this coming season.

Over the years we have accumulated all of the series from the synaxarion and the moment I got an email saying this was released I immediately bought one, and then from a source me, bought 8 more for God children and family members! It is not only beautiful in the quality but the information in these pages are so thorough and insightful even for adults. Lenten Ocean is an apt title for this BIG GEM of a book as each page and each section( It continues BEYOND PASCHA through the END of PENTECOST and ALL THE WAY to the SUNDAY of ALL SAINTS!) surprises and delights through the very end! I have taught Orthodox Catechism for almost 40 years, and this volume surpasses any reference I have purchased to date. That may seem a bold claim, yet this is the most comprehensive text I have with details and history that I might forget to add in and with accompanying illustrations of these facts! And all in one volume! I have texts with icons of all the feasts - but not through Pentecost conveniently in one space, and includes troparion? Has historical facts that I was unaware of? And in one place - never. You can buy 100 children's texts and still will not have all that this provides! My children's library alone contains over 500 volumes.
Buy this. It's the best value of any text I have (and the best of all, "My Synaxarion—A Saint for Every Day" 13 volumes)! It is more beautifully illustrated than any of my other various books attempting to cover this material, and you will never find consistent detail to the very last page.
